These are some of the best websites online for earning money!
Earning a few dollars online is easier than most people think. You just need to find the right resources and websites. That’s why I’m making this list and I hope that you find something you’re good at.
Growing up my dad always told me to turn my hobbies into income. I always shrugged it off until I was on my own making my own money and paying my way through life. I went to university in a different country when I was 18 and got very good at budgeting very fast. I’m a huge fan of budgeting and have since spent two years analysing how budgeting can be successful, but that’s a story for another day.
Four months ago I thought long and hard about the advice I grew up with. Even though I was perfectly able to live within my means and save, why wouldn’t I want extra income? The last thing I wanted to do, however, was work more than 10 hours a week on top of my other responsibilities.
So, as many others do, I went on over to TikTok and searched “passive income” and “side hustles”. Looking back I probably could have started a little sooner if I wasn’t concerned about knowing every single thing about a project before starting. But, the past can’t be changed so here we are. I chose my top 3 options with the best time/reward ratios. I also made a rule to myself that I would only start side hustles that would help others in order to stay true to myself.
- Jewellery Store
I started my jewellery shop (Pasav Jewellery) four months ago and it now earns me about $110/week. This took the most setup time for me in terms of suppliers, finding how to advertise, setting up the shop, and building the social media profiles.
Despite this, I enjoyed this process the most because I’ve always wanted to start a jewellery shop. Being able to have a jewellery shop that brings me joy in running/operating it is incredibly fun and I love pushing the mission.
Starting this was a lot of trial and error. How should I design the store? How many payment methods should I accept? How should I advertise? How should I price? When should I have sales? How much time do I want to dedicate to this? What the f is SEO?
There were so many questions and I tried a host of alternatives to find the best option, I still do. But, I’ve found that being simple is best because I can still get my desired results without making it a full time job.
I do advertise and attempt to have one Instagram advertising every two weeks that coincide with a sale on the store. The advertising pays for itself within 1–2 days of running and everything else is profit. When advertisings are running, I spend about 45 minutes/day on the store. Without advertisings running I spend roughly 20 minutes/day on the store.
2. Etsy Shop
I started the Etsy shop two weeks ago and I currently earn $130/week. Where the jewellery store focuses on physical products, the Etsy store focuses on digital downloads. Although there are physical products, they are print on demand items so I don’t hold the inventory.
The Etsy (BudgetByPaige) is based around budgeting. The digital downloads are templates to assist in budgeting, some printable and some digital. I don’t have to pay for advertising with the Etsy shop as I have a TikTok account with the Etsy shop linked in my bio on the account. This drives organic traffic to the store and I base the TikTok account around budgeting to keep the same theme.
The Etsy shop has been the easiest to set up and has a higher profit margin than the jewellery store. I spend roughly 30 minutes-1 hour per day on the Etsy shop due to making TikToks and adding listings. I try to add at least 1 listing every other day in order to add more options to accommodate everyone’s individual budgeting style.
3. Surveys
I make about $10/day from surveys, but that still gives me an extra $300/month. Although it has the lowest time/reward ratio I chose to do them because I can them while I watch television every night and I only do them for about 1–1.5 hours per night.
My personal takeaway from that is I make $300/month while watching television. Perhaps not for everyone but definitely an option for those looking to make some extra money every night.
I use Opinion Outpost for my surveys and although it’s really nice to earn money while I watch television, it does get a little frustrating as I can only cash out in $10 or $20, which would be 30 or 15 different cash outs throughout the month.
If you are looking to make extra money my best piece of advice is to start something you enjoy in a manner that you as a consumer would buy from. Taking pride and joy in your work will translate to consumers. You don’t have to create a new full time for yourself in the beginning and smaller amounts add up over the month so don’t dissuade yourself or feel like you have to pursue high ticket side hustles. I spent roughly $150 across the board for all side hustles to get them up and running and generate sales.
